Buffalo Free-Net How To Create Your Home Page

Buffalo Free-Net Home Pages are meant for individuals who reside in NY State. If you have a group, organization, or non-profit association and would like a home page for that group then send your US Mail address to the Buffalo Free-Net Administrator, bfnadm@bfn.org, and request a "SIG Application Form". We will be happy to assist you in making a home page available for your group.

All Buffalo Free-Net users are given a default home page.

Here the steps necessary to modify your Home Page available:

  1. Edit your index.html file
    1. Visit the "Manipulate Files" area (jumpword: files)
    2. Choose Edit a file to modify the default home page file.
    3. At the "Please enter name of file ['?' for list]: " prompt, type:
      index.html
      and press the RETURN key
    4. Using the editor of your choice, type in your information in HyperText Markup Language (HTML) format. For more information about HTML see the SIG Moderator's Guide, or the HTML FAQ.
You now have a Home Page on the World Wide Web and you can tell people that your Uniform Resource Locator (URL) is:

http://bfn.org/~your-freenet-userid

Remember to use your Buffalo Free-Net userid.

Please remember that you signed an Acceptable Use Policy when you applied for your account, so don't put anything on your Home Page that might be illegal or commercial in nature.
